Holly Jolly Dog Friendly Recipes!

It’s the holiday season, which means one thing… Festive Treats!!

Mom got in the kitchen this week to test out some recipes for the holidays and a lot were for the humans…but she of course made sure to whip up some dog friendly treatos as well!

She made sure that she included a little bit of everything for our followers depending on how much time they wanted to spend/ingredients they wanted to use on pup friendly holiday goodies. That way, all of our pup readers can get in on the yummy action!

First up, we’re starting easy! Every season we make a yummy minimal ingredient frozen yogurt treat, firstly because they're too dang easy, and secondly, because they are DELICIOUS and nutritious for us pups.

Candy Cane Yogurt Pops

Ingredients:

  • Greek Yogurt (you can also use goats milk or kefir)

  • Raspberries or Strawberries

Directions:

Mash raspberries or strawberries well. We used a bone shaped silicone ice mold to make our treats. We put the raspberry mash on either side of the bone and then filled the middle with the greek yogurt. We popped these into the freezer until set. ENJOY!

*You could also make these into a layered parfait if you are short on time and don't have time to freeze!

Next, let's continue with the easy, no-bake recipes and make some yummy pup friendly truffles. These are also human friendly, I think mom makes a pretty similar protein ball recipe…

Pup Berry Truffles

Ingredients

  • 1 ripe banana

  • 1 cup oats blended roughly

  • 2 tablespoons of peanut butter

  • Small handful of raspberries chopped

  • Shredded Coconut

Directions:

Mash banana and mix with rough oat flour, peanut butter, and raspberries until it forms a nice dough consistency. Make dough into balls and then roll into shredded coconut. Place in the fridge to firm up for a couple of hours. ENJOY!

Next, let's make sure the doggos don't feel left out of the Christmas Cookie crew and make some pup friendly ones for them instead!

Gingerpup Cookies

Ingredients

  • Cookies

    • 2 cups blended oatmeal (makes oat flour)

    • 1 cup whole wheat flour

    • 1 egg

    • ¼ melted coconut oil

    • 1 teaspoon cinnamon

    • 1 teaspoon ginger

  • Icing

    • ½ cup greek yogurt

    • ½ cup tapioca starch or cornstarch

To color your icing red you can use beet root powder or strawberries, and for green you can use spirulina powder or spinach.

Directions

Preheat the oven to 350. Mix together both flours, egg, coconut oil, cinnamon, and ginger. Make sure ingredients are well blended and then roll out your dough to about ½ inch thickness.

Using your festive cookie cutters cut out the cookies and place them onto a baking sheet with parchment paper. Bake for 20-25 minutes. Let cool before icing.

Hopefully one of these tasty treats will bring your pups some festive cheer this season! Share with us if you try out one of these recipes!

With that, I ‘m off to lick the bowl. Talk to you next week and as always, stay friendly!
