It’s Finally Fall Bucket List
Let’s Fall into some fun!
Although mom has been scattering pumpkins throughout the house for about a month now, Fall has “officially” begun! Rather than waiting for the end of the season like we did for summer, with the start of fall we figured it would only make sense to create a “Fall Bucket List” with all of you to make sure we have time to accomplish the entire list!
So far our “fall” has consisted of watching A LOT of football and buying everything pumpkin flavored at Trader Joe’s… but I want to step it up a little bit. With the end of September upon us, there are definitely more “fall activities” in our area. So for the bucket list let’s follow the same format of our summer bucket list including fun adventures, fun fall cuisine, and quality time with our humans!
Adventures & Activities
At the top of the list we want to do some true “fall activities” that are of course dog friendly. We knew visiting a pumpkin patch was #1 on our list! We found two that are dog friendly and narrowed it down to one that we had wanted to visit last year but ran out of time. This pumpkin patch is over an hour away so it definitely needs to be planned out.
If you’re interested in visiting a pumpkin patch, but find that they are either too far away or are not dog friendly, we found that most of our garden centers had a small “pumpkin patch” and they usually are dog friendly as well! We did this last year and it was perfect.
Next up, head out to a hike where we can see some of that fall foliage. Living in a SOCAL beach town, there aren’t too many trees with the beautiful changing leaves in our immediate surroundings. To knock this item off the list we are going to plan a day trip inland to find a beautiful fall hike!
Another “adventure” that is definitely more for the parents than for the doggos, but one my mom wouldn’t leave off is heading to a winery! Both my parents love some wine and after some quick googling we found plenty that are dog friendly. We’re going to try a couple of these together and knock them off the list during the same beautiful fall day.
Around the House
With our busy schedules, we wanted to make sure we kept this bucket list very achievable yet filled with new and exciting experiences. So the next couple on the list are things we can do in and around the house!
We absolutely LOVED our backyard movie night we had on our summer bucket list, but this time it has a theme - we want to go all out with fun Halloween snacks, drinks, and decor! And with Hocus Pocus 2 coming out in the next week we are going to be able to knock off two bucket list items in the same night!
But why stop at two, when we can make it three! I talked about it in recent weeks, but treat ingredients for both pup and parent are right in line with Fall flavor - pumpkin and apple! This will be perfect for me to enjoy on movie night! If you want to see some tried and true recipes, we did a blog a few weeks ago with 3 fall recipes that I thoroughly enjoyed.
Halloween Specific
To round out the list we really hone in on Halloween. If you’ve been keeping up with us on Instagram, you already know that we finished up our Halloween decorations this last weekend…or did we? I think I saw mom on Amazon adding a couple more fun decorations to her cart. Decorating for the holidays is always so fun! We usually put on a seasonal movie or some music and decorate to make it more fun and less of a chore. Make a yummy treat as a reward and it’s even better!
And after you're done decorating your home, go for an evening walk and check out all the neighborhood decorations. Make sure to go at night to get all the spooky vibes and lit up decorations. If you’re worried about night time safety walking the pup, check out these light up collars! We got one last year and it works great!
Keeping things “at home” another fun idea is to DIY some Halloween costumes! Google and Pinterest are fun places to get lost and searching DIY Halloween pet costumes generates so many fun ideas! If you need some inspiration, we decided to sit down and think of our favorite things AND shows/movies to get some ideas! We cannot wait for you to see some of the fun costumes we have in store for 31 Days of Howloween!
Last, but certainly not least, CARVE a pumpkin! Now, I know we can’t technically carve the pumpkins ourselves, but the pawrents seem to really enjoy doing this and we love seeing our humans happy!
We loved creating a summer bucket list, but starting so late in the season we didn’t accomplish as much as we would have liked to. We also LOVED seeing what you guys ended up creating and knocking off as well!
Our favorite part of doing this weekly newsletter/blog is being able to connect with you guys on a deeper level than just a few likes on an instagram post. We love getting to know more about you guys and hear what you guys enjoy doing in your free time.
We will make sure to post our bucket list, as well as a blank template for you guys on our Instagram page so you can make your own. Make sure to tag us in your adventures so we can follow along!
And with that, I’m off to eat some candy corn. Talk to you next week and as always, stay friendly!
