Dog Friendly Ingredients

First, mom looked up dog friendly fall foods and these seemed the most exciting to us and they were ingredients that we know don't upset my stomach. Here are some of the most “fall friendly” foods that we got some inspiration from:

  • Pumpkin: this superfood is low in calories and has a ton of essential vitamins and minerals. Like vitamin A, C and E, as well as minerals like potassium and iron.

  • Apples: a great source of vitamin C, vitamin A, potassium, and antioxidants. It is also a low calorie treat for your pup.

  • Turkey: a lean source of protein that is easily digestible for dogs.

  • Carrots: high in fiber and beta carotene which produces vitamin A. It is also great for dogs teeth!

  • Sweet Potatoes: one of the best sources of vitamin A which promotes healthy skin, coat, eyes, nerves, and muscles in dogs.

Pupkin Spice Pup Cup

If you've been following me you know that I am the king of puppuccinos from Starbucks, but we decided that since mom gets to have Pumpkin Spice Lattes all fall season, we should make a pup version! This one is super easy and VERY tasty! You can switch out the “dairy” part of it with cream, almond milk, oatmilk, or goats milk depending on your diet preference! Here’s what we put in ours:

Ingredients:

  • Greek Yogurt

  • 100% Pumpkin Puree

  • Cinnamon

  • Whipped Cream for topping

Directions:

  • Add greek yogurt, pumpkin, and cinnamon into a mixing bowl and mix well with a whisk.

  • Scoop into a bowl and top with some whipped cream and cinnamon. Enjoy!

PB & Pupkin Cookies

Sticking with the pumpkin theme, adding some peanut butter and other tasty ingredients makes for one tasty and healthy treat! You can swap out the oat flour for whole wheat flour or coconut flour, we chose oat flour and actually make it ourselves with organic oats in the blender!

These little cookies would be the perfect extra topper for your Pupkin Spice Pup Cup if you wanted an ALL OUT treat!

Ingredients:

  • 1 ½ cup oat flour (you can make this at home with regular oats, just stick in a blender and blend til you get a flour consistency)

  • ½ cup organic peanut butter

  • ½ cup coconut oil

  • 1 cup pumpkin puree

  • 3 eggs

Directions:

  • Preheat oven to 350

  • Mix all ingredients together until well combined.

  • Roll out the dough

  • Shape or cut dough into desired shapes. (we used cookie cutters to make ours)

  • Bake and ENJOY!

Apple Peanut Butter Doggie Doughnuts

I don’t know about you guys, but I think apples and peanut butter are such a tasty snack already, that when I saw apple peanut butter doughnuts, I knew this was going to be a winner!

We actually ended up using oat flour instead of whole wheat flour and they turned out GREAT! My pawrents even had one for themselves!

Ingredients:

  • 3 tablespoons melted coconut oil

  • ½ cup dog friendly peanut butter

  • 1 cup unsweetened applesauce

  • 2 tablespoons honey

  • 1 teaspoon baking powder

  • 2 cups whole wheat flour

Directions:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

  • In a large bowl, add coconut oil, peanut butter, applesauce, and honey. Stir with whisk until the peanut butter is well incorporated.

  • Next, add in the whole wheat flour and baking powder and stir until combined.

  • Place the mixed batter into a large ziplock bag. Cut the corner and pipe the batter into the donut pan.

  • Place in the oven and bake for about 10 minutes or until done.

  • Remove and let cool completely before drizzling the peanut butter over the top with a spoon.

  • (If you have a thicker peanut butter, stick in the microwave for about 15 to 20 seconds to thin out)

Candy Apple Nachos

This recipe is SO easy, no bake time/wait time AND it was enjoyed by the entire family! This is going to be a definite staple in our household.

Ingredients:

  • 1 Apple

  • 2-3 tbs Peanut Butter

  • 2-3 tbs Yogurt

  • Milk of choice

  • Fruit of choice (shredded coconut, blueberries, etc.)

Directions:

  • Slice your apples into thin slices and spread out on a plate

  • Warm up 2-3 tbs of peanut butter for 30 seconds in the microwave and drizzle over the apples

  • Mix 2-3 tbs of yogurt and a splash of milk to make it a thinner consistency and drizzle over the apples. Sprinkle with your fruit.

  • Serve and ENJOY! This one can be enjoyed by both pup and human!

Candy Corn Pupsicles

We LOVE a good pupsicle over here! Probably because we live in SOCAL where it still hits almost 80 on a weekly basis. And these were just too cute and festive not to try out. Also, which pup doesn’t love yogurt, pumpkin, and banana? These will be a hit ALL year round!

Ingredients:

  • ½ cup Plain Greek Yogurt

  • ¼ cup Pure Pumpkin Puree

  • 1 small Banana

Directions:

  • Grab your favorite silicone mold, we used our little paw print ones!

  • Fill ⅓ with plain greek yogurt and put in the freezer for about an hour

  • Mix 1 tbs yogurt with pure pumpkin puree and fill the next ⅓ up with mixture and put in freezer for another hour

  • Mash one banana and fill the rest of the mold with mixture and freeze until hard

  • Pop out those festive pupsicles and ENJOY!

Cake Pops

Cake pops for dogs?! Yes please!! Super easy, tasty, and NO bake! You can even spice it up and use a silicone mold to shape your cake pops into something fun for the season!

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup Oats (blended or not)

  • ¼ cup Pure Pumpkin Puree

  • ¼ cup Peanut Butter

  • 2 tablespoons Honey

  • Greek Yogurt

  • Milk of Choice

Directions:

  • Blend oats in a blender until a flour texture forms. (optional)

  • Mix blended oats, pumpkin puree, peanut butter, and honey together until a dough forms.

  • Roll into cake pop balls, use a carrot stick or treat of choice to stick into the cake pop for the stick, and put in the fridge or freezer to harden up a little bit.

  • While the cake pops chill, make a yogurt frosting.

  • Mix yogurt, peanut butter, and a splash of your milk of choice together to make a frosting.

  • Roll cake pops in the frosting and put in the fridge again to harden.
